The servers were offline yesterday, here is an interview with LadyM to explain it.

+LadyM: no the servers are being upgraded
-Nlhero: does that mean that there will be new towns etc.?
+LadyM: no its the server owners updating not sin
-Nlhero: so no changes for the players? not even that the game will be faster?

There are a few ways to gamble in this game:
Key Wheels, you can find those in Tardon Valley and in Minus21. Put a key in it and you'll recieve (rare) gems and other stuff
Slots, you can find these in DC. Put 1000 opals in it and you'll recieve keys.
Over and Under, you'll have to put 100 crystals in it to gain keys
